Busy days

I have been so busy this lasts days and I haven’t be able to write at least one post for day. It’s truth that I have some minutes at day for write, but I have preferred rest and take more power for these next days, I will have to explain many things.

In all my blogger life I have learned that you have to enjoy writing, and if some day you don’t want post any content, it’s only your decision. You choose if post or not post, how much content do you want write and at what hour you will post. In fact, surely you are a blogger, right?

Some days ago I commented something about my new projects, and I believe that today it’s a good moment for explain about one of my two projects. Nowadays, I’m working for Goa Internet Services, developers of Migoa, the next great vertical search engine and winners of Innovate Europe ‘06 and, of course, finalists of Red Herring VME 2007. For these people that don’t know what is a vertical search engine, I going to tell you, that is a search engine like Google but specialized in properties, cars and jobs. This means that only the service search in these webpages that are from one of this thematics, and therefore you can obtain a great quality results and it’s so more faster that other common search engines.

I’m working since February with them, but a great question can be, what is my work in Migoa? Well, you will know soon, in the next days surely you will have notices about me and the launching of Migoa. But for these people that already meet me, you probably know that I’m a techie, and this I don’t say, it says my CEO, Gary Stewart, and a great entrepreneur in spirit and mind.

Basecamp, continuous being the best option?

Probably, a lot of us work in projects that you could be managed via web with a manager service, that it offers us some features as share documents and complete a to-do list. Well, then you probably also know that one of the most famous projects managers of the Web 2.0 era, it’s Basecamp.

Basecamp allow you to maintain several projects and manage it easily. For months it have been used for many people, but the accurate question is, You still continues using it? And surely a other good question would be, It’s really useful or works which you hoped? If you read these lines and you can answer to this questions, you don’t have doubts please, tell me!

I only used the free account but these days I was thinking use one of the premium accounts for some projects that I developing (Yes, now I’m developing more than one project). But the main problem that one friend told me it’s that really is a ‘hosting’ service, that you pay according the projects that you can manage and the hosting disk space. If you think it fine, this could be a great trouble in the future and suppose a new source of expenses.

This friend, Anton Malinovskiy (with any doubt a expert programmer), he told me that a good option would be use JIRA, that do the same that do Basecamp or even more. I wait to test it and I write you how works and if it’s really a good option for use or at least test.

After my first First Tuesday

My first intention that motivate me for go to this event, it was that I want meet new people related with my business perspective and search some future investors.

With any doubt, I found more people of the first profile (entrepreneurs) than the second profile (investors). Really, with this last point, I’m not so much worried because I met a lot of interesting people that are working in a good and special business.

My team and I, I arrived half an hour late according the start of the event, and we skipped the first networking of the night. Carlos Blanco, done a good work and he presented two good entrepreneurs accompanied of Jesús Monleon, a financier of La Caixa (also co-founder of Emagister) and his entrepreneurs plans.

The first entrepreneur is a good example of a entrepreneur in La Caixa. His mainly work in his firm (Daem Interactive) is the recognition of objects or logos, for link it automatically by means of photos with the content of the object in concrete. It’s a very good firm that offers his services mainly, to the main mobile phone firms like Movistar, Amena (now Orange) and Vodafone.

The other entrepreneur is Lucas Carné, co-founder of Privalia, a cheap system for buy shoes or cosmetics with a very good discounts. Have a simply business model that seems work perfectly in Spain with a great margin of benefits. In fact, recently this farm, received over €400.000 of his investors.

About 21:30pm or 22:00pm a group of thirteen persons went to the VIP room of the Carpe Diem Lounge Club. We enjoyed a precious supper that finished over 00:00pm more or less.

At this supper, there were some interest people like Gary Stewart and his partner of Migoa, Albert Miquel y Diago Mariño of , Toni Mascaró of Mascaró CrossMedia, Carlos Blanco of Grupo ItNet and all the rest that were at the supper.

For this moment I’m waiting for the next First Tuesday and I hope continue in contact with many of these people.
