Extate, the real estate search engine

Yesterday I wrote about the vertical search engines. This time I going to review Extate, a real state vertical search engine.

Urged for an email of Gary Stewart, CEO of Migoa, I decided write some lines about Extate, and observe his pros and cons of the service.

Extate it’s the first product of BytePlay Ltd, company co-founded by Artemi Krymski and Douglas de Jager.

Extate

For all those readers that don’t already know how works a service than this, I have to say that the data of the webpage aren’t uploaded manually, but that are uploaded automatically obtaining all the data from other pages using a little spider or robot of the search engine.

This service have some features that others vertical search engines don’t have, like that does not use any datafeeds whatsoever, but that data is retrieved from other pages solely by crawling and parsing.

Another good point it’s that obtains the data from a little group of other real estates but with excellent content. This means that will have more quality but less quantity of items. Still thus, Extate have a great quantity of pages for extract data.

Also, it employs various natural-language-processing technologies to match full free-from queries to suitable property information. An good example would be the following: I need a house in California, whit 4 or 5 bedrooms, with a private garden, for under 2m. When you introduce a text that this you will obtain your information with fine results.

According the test that I realized with this search engine, I have found that have problems for search when we test with a really specific description of what we want, but like all web service, I hope that will fix most of the problems that they can found in his service.

This vertical search engine works like any other. Extate are forming so comments about it, but if we think and reflection about the nowadays situation of this market, only the best of these, will be winners in the real life.
