OJObuscador: Ask X
The first conference of the day it have opened the people of Ask X, in this case Miguel Acosta, responsible of the European expansion of Ask.com.
This conference have been the first of the morning and very interesting because we have be able to be, how a great search engine (that really have a great work), fight for have a little percent of users. They have a great features that works excellent and they have a great stickiness but this little group of users together the great competition, don’t have enough space for capture new users. To endorse this reflection I going to tell you an example of today.
It have realized two questions of the type How many people know about people? and How many people uses Ask or Ask X. If you have read other blog like Carlos Blanco or Maestros del Web, for example, these comments about the graceful result of this questions.
On the first case, almost all the people know something about Ask, but at the second case, only two people (I don’t know exactly) use Ask. This result can be dangerous because if in a great congress like OJObuscador, where a majority part of the assistants are techies of profession, it can supose a great lost. If you think calmly, you can arrive at the conclusión that it isn’t a bad search engine, all the opposite.
According my opinion, facts like the little percent of Ask users, it’s a result of a bad marketing in a long period of time. I have reading about this facts and I have read a interesting new of the 7th February titled Search Engine Wars: Ask Moving Up! that explains some perspectives of the new market that Ask have ahead.
